U n d e r s t a n d

Put down your violin.
Bring me your rough genius fingers
That smell brightly of cherry wood.

Bring me your wavy black hair
Of honey husk
And ambivalent sodium breeze
That has equally kissed and broken
Fragrant island trees.

You bring the rockvein ice-kiss violets
To safe hothouse conditions.
You resurrect the devil tongue deciduous,
Though they were desertborn, unreligious.

You bring the ocean in your magical hands.
Even the houdini box-willow
Understands.
