11. Half and Half
I'm shaving you in the tangerine bathroom,
You say not to worry I'll cut you.
You make ridiculous faces to assist me.
I have to re-cream when you kiss me.
Gavin DeGraw belts "Follow Through" on the radio,
You ask if no talking means no singing too.
You whimper you love me, there's no space to hide.
I touch your collarbone, you're inside.
Half shaved, you spend the day like that
And make me stay in the tub while you paint me.
We grill salmon, wash the dog, make love until dark
And don't notice you're half and half till we get to Rummy Park.
I say you're very "Phantom of the Opera"
And you let me take your photograph
And when I see the painting. it's nothing like me.
Are we what we are?
Do we see what we see?
You smell like the angel who smiles in my dream
And flowers on other planets
Too beautiful to touch.
