17.  A Valentine of Sorts

Waiting for your beautiful face
To emerge through the windswept willows,
I wonder what will become of me
Should I live to survive our love.

I'l never make you a valentine collage
Or christen a star in your name.

Glitter fades,
Stars fall.

If the worst should happen
I'll always remember
Your triggerfish fettuccini,
The gold-edged plates you put down
On a sharkskin tablecloth,
The music you put on,
Neil Diamond's "12 Songs".

2A.M. barefoot,
We shuffled through the park.
A star fell;
You didn't see
A universe in Orion
Unhanding me.
